Sian Miller

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Pychotherapists (BACP). I abide by the BACP code of professional conduct. I am trained in Person-Centered Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt, which means that I can tailor my way of working to suit your individual needs.

I offer a caring, non-judgemental, confidential space to focus on you.  I will help you to find a way forward in your life by working with you to explore the patterns and beliefs that drive your feelings and behaviour. I recognise that the development of an open and trusting therapeutic relationship between client and therapist  is fundamental to emotional healing and personal growth, and so I will always work at your pace with what you choose to share.

I have experience of working with a range of issues including trauma, depression and anxiety, abuse, bereavement, problems with confidence or low self-esteem, lack of a sense of direction in life, problems relating with others, and life changes. This list is not exhaustive, so please feel free to contact me to discuss anything that is not specified here. Your reasons for seeking therapy will be specific to you, and counselling can be helpful for anyone, no matter how big or small the struggle may seem.

I see adult clients of any age, gender, race, religion, culture or sexual orientation.

Prior to setting up my private practice, I trained with a mental health charity in South Oxfordshire working with a broad range of clients with their own specific issues and concerns. I continue to support a charity in Reading specialising in working with adult survivors of sexual abuse and rape.

I have regular supervision, and I am deeply committed to continuing my own personal growth and professional development, in order to offer a reflective, supportive and ethical practice.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I had a varied career, firstly in scientific research and later as a chartered management accountant, and so I have experience of working in both public and private sectors.

As counselling is a personal relationship, I offer a free, pre-arranged 20 minute telephone call with no obligation, so that you can ask questions and so that we can both explore whether I would be the right counsellor for you.
