Counsellor

Powerful and practical solutions for those who are troubled by negative thoughts, emotions and habits.
I am a qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist and an accredited registrant member of The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
A counsellor at heart, I have helped many people to recreate their lives and overcome all kinds of difficulties. I offer brief or long-term therapy to clients from all walks of life, supporting a wide range of issues including: addiction, alcoholism, anxiety, anger, low mood, relationships, identity crisis, life changes, self-esteem, stress, and loss of confidence.

I am equipped with both theoretical and practical insight into various models of cognitive, behavioural and emotional change. Crucially, I also possess the psychoeducational skills to give my clients the best possible chance of achieving permanent change. My approach is eclectic, intuitive, and uplifting.

Having worked within integrated mental health and substance misuse teams at a number of prisons in South East England, I am qualified in the management and care of individuals in the custodial environment and an expert in addiction and behavioural change. As well as operating a private practice, I have worked for organisations as varied as the NHS, Oxford University Press and The Ministry of Justice.

Some people come to therapy with a specific ‘presenting issue’ that they wish to discuss, explore and resolve. Others are not so sure what it is that troubles them - but they do know that change of some sort is necessary, and they would like it to occur sooner rather than later. Some people come to therapy with great enthusiasm. Others (particularly those who see themselves as ‘fighters’ or ‘succeeders’) might feel embarrassed at the prospect of admitting their stuckness. Whatever your current life situation, allow me to reassure you that change is not only possible, but can often occur in just a few sessions.

My practice upholds strict confidentiality, is fully insured, and adheres to the NCPS code of conduct and ethics. I hold a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
