Dr Josephine McInerney is an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist working in both private practice and the NHS. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2019 and has worked in NHS mental health services for almost 10 years.
In the NHS, Dr McInerney works as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in adult forensic services. However, she has experience working with adults and children in different NHS settings including adult Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), Children and Adolescent Mental Health Teams (CAMHS) and social services.
Dr McInerney is able to provide psychological assessment and treatment for a range of difficulties. These include anxiety disorders such as social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, panic attacks and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), depressive disorders and low mood, sleep problems, stress and low self-esteem, anger management, trauma, loss and Covid related difficulties. She has a particular interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but is trained to use multiple therapies and to work flexibly to adapt these to each client. Dr McInerney is also trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
